Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street following a two-day decline.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 71 points to 13,952 shortly after the opening bell Friday.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up eight at 1,510. The Nasdaq composite rose 18 to 3,149.
Markets are bouncing back after being spooked by a split among Federal Reserve officials over whether to push forward with economic stimulus programs or begin weaning the nation off of them.
Hewlett-Packard jumped 7 percent after the struggling computer maker reported results late Thursday that trumped the forecasts of financial analysts.
American International Group rose 4 percent. Its results also came in better than the market was expecting.
